It has been very busy every day with lesson planning and meetings, so I have had little time to spend on this blog. I have some stories to share, but I will do it on the first holiday which is next week Thursday - Saturday. School is on on sunday. Every time there is a holiday, the government is kind enough to issue an extra day or two of working, first one is this next Sunday. We will have three days off non-the-less.
All I can do this time is to attach pictures to an album and explain what they are. I will share funny, interesting stories later.

In Beijing and loving it! Everyone is so friendly.
Got into my apartment at 2:30am (Beijing time). unpacked quickly and had a good morning's sleep. I had no idea when and where I should meet whom, so in the morning I hand outside the apartment building until I see a foreigner. We nod. he goes on his way and I secretly follow him knowing he's probably a teacher too and is going to the same school. I follow him into the school and start walking in the bright hallways lined with plants and little kids wearing yellow uniforms. I walk up and down the building until I see a door with my name taped on it. "Well I know I'm in the right school, but who am I supposed to meet? and where?" I start walking up and down the hallway in hopes of finding some foreign teachers. I peak into a room and there, sitting on the couch was this white teacher! So I thought.... I go in. "Hello" I said. "blah blah blah blah" he blurts out in mandarin. "I don't speak mandarin" I say quietly as shock settles in. "My english is not that good" he replied in a very thick Russian accent. "Where are you from then?" I inquired knowing what the answer is. "Russia" Awkward silence as I let this first encounter settle in. I guess as they told me before, Beijing is a multicultural city. I finally find the teacher's lounge and meet everyone. Following the opening ceremonies, in which we all get introduced, get a tour of the school and the block orders that we teach. ps its so hot and humid I love it |
